Town goes street party crazy!

MORE than 50 applications have been received for £100 grants towards the cost of holding street parties in Warrington to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
But the borough council still has money available for more and has extended the deadline for applications until Friday, April 27.
A “Big Lunch” was originally planned for Sunday, June 3 but as the number of local events has exceeded expectations, this has now been moved to Saturday, June 9 to allow as many people as possible to enjoy the festivities.
This event will feature street entertainment and staffs, a Spitfire aircraft on display and much more.
The money comes from the Westminster Foundation, who earlier this year donated £50,000 to the Cheshire Community Foundation to fund events across the county.
Warrington was allocated £10,000 and the council last month started offering £100 grants to individuals or groups wishing to hold street parties.
Further details of how to apply for the £100 grant and more information about all the Jubilee happenings in Warrington this summer can be found on the council’s website www.warrington.gov.uk
