The ultimate Jubilee street party

IT could be the ultimate Diamond Jubilee street party, with a guest list including Coronation Street and Hollyoaks stars, entertainment by former boy band singer Antony Costa and food prepared by a Michelin starred chef.
All in the idyllic, rural surroundings of Lymm Oughtrington Park Cricket Club’s picturesque ground.
It’s all part of the club’s family fun day to raise money for Help the Heroes, to be held on Sunday June 3.
There will be a charity Twenty20 cricket match between a team of TV and sporting celebrities and a Lymm Oughtrington Park XI, with former Blue singer Antony Costa performing some of his best known hits during the interval.
Children’s entertainments will include a bouncy castle and face painting and radio station City FM will be hosting a road show.
A curtain raiser will be a Kwik Cricket tournament involving Lymm’s three primary schools and a club junior team and the day will also incorporate the official opening of the club’s new practice facility by Warrington South MP David Mowat and local councillor Sheila Woodyatt.
The club is setting aside a “street party zone” for people who would like to avoid the hassle of organising their own parties.
Club events manager Andrew Kershaw said: “When we started telling people about the day, a number pointed out they might be organising their own street parties.
“So we decided to set aside an area where street parties could be held. People can either bring their own picnics or order a hamper prepared by celebrity chef Aiden Byrne.
“Of course, there will also be food and drink on sale, including a barbecue.”
“The whole day is intended to be family entertainment – nobody will be taking the cricket too seriously.”
A charity auction will offer a number of “money can’t buy” prizes, including a morning’s cooking tuition with Aiden Byrne, a visit to the set of TV’s “Shameless” during filming, corporate tickets for Manchester United, Lancashire Cricket Club and others and an all-expenses paid “date” with former Miss British Isles Natalie Pike.
Tickets will be available at outlets in Lymm prior to the event but can also be purchased at the gate and corporate packages will also be available.
