PUPILS from local primary schools are being invited to enter a poetry writing competition to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the famous Titanic.
The competition is being organised by forget-me-not toy and bookshop at Culcheth, near Warrington, in association with Usborne books.
Entries were invited from children in Key Stage 2 for the chance to win the Usborne Titanic Sticker book.
Shop owners owners Naomi Simpson and Victoria Simpson-Forrest said: “There have been many beautiful books published to mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the titanic. We felt that this was a topic of historical importance that children in primary schools could explore.
“To encourage schools to become involved we teamed up with Usborne books to offer a number of their Titanic Sticker Books as prizes for the winning poems.
We have been very impressed by the poems we have received and it is obvious that the children have enjoyed learning about the Titanic.
“We would like to congratulate everyone on their efforts.”
Closing date for the competition is on Friday, March 30 and winners will be notified by Monday, April 16.
