YOUNG people will soon be able to get dedicated careers advice at the Warrington Youth Café.
The facility in Time Square will be the temporary home of the borough council’s new in-house careers and employment advice service, which will become operational on Sunday April 1, following the closure of Cheshire and Warrington Connexions.
Connexions will vacate their Sankey Street home on Friday March 30. although the Youth Advice Shop will continue to operate from there for the foreseeable future.
Young people will be able to see a careers adviser at the Warrington Youth Café from Wednesday April 4 every weekday from 12.30 to 5pm.
The new service is expected to relocate to its own premises in Time Square in the coming months.
A number of advisers who previously worked for Connexions Cheshire and Warrington will transfer to the new service.
Kath O’Dwyer (pictured), the borough council’s executive director of children and young people’s services said: “Parents and young people in the borough should be reassured that the same support will be available from the same faces.
“We have been working hard for several months to set-up and integrate this new service with the rest of our teams and are confident that we have the foundations of a very effective service. Our priority is to minimise disruption and ensure business as usual.”
Any young person who needs careers advice can drop into the Youth Café, phone Contact Warrington on 01925 443322 or email [email protected]
