Care group stages photo contest

A NOT-for-profit organisation working with deprived groups in Warrington is running a photo competition to raise awareness and funds.
The Well Warrington Network works with the chronically ill, disabled people, carers and people with mental health problems, mainly in deprived areas of Warrington.
It aims to give people who would not normally be able to afford complementary therapies the opportunity to benefit their health by having treatments.
The Network is Big Lottery funded and has received funding from the Stronger Together Warrington and the borough council.
As part of a successful project in Orford, more than 30 chronically ill and disabled people have had more than 200 treatments since May last year.
They have reported better sleep patterns, using less sleep and pain medication, feeling more confident in themselves and generally having a better quality of life, due to the work of the Well Warrington Network.
Theme of the photo competition will be “Bringing colour to Warrington” and the idea is use the winning images on greetings cards to be sold.
Entry forms can be downloaded from the website www.wellwarringtonnetwork.co.uk
All profits from treatments and the greetings cards are ploughed back into other community projects, so that more Warrington residents in need receive help.
