SMOKERS in Warrington are being encouraged to take the leap and quit the habit.
The Warrington Stop Smoking service is backing the Take the Leap campaign, which started yesterday (Wednesday) – national No Smoking Day.
The theme was developed with smokers themselves and reflects the charity’s positive messages – that they are there for people who want to quit and will help them take a leap towards a healthier, wealthier future.
Anyone who wants to take the leap but thinks it may be too hard to do it on their owncan get help from the Warrington Stop Smoking Service.
The service provides free advice and support to anybody who wants to quit smoking.
Programmes can last up to 12 weeks and can include motivational weekly carbon monoxide testing and phone support if needed. On offer are a number of Nicotine Replacement Therapies or Non Nicotine tablets which can help users quit smoking.
There is also a number of drop-in clinics across Warrington available Monday to Friday.
Cllr Pat Wright, Warrington Borough Council’s executive member for health and wellbeing, said: “Sometimes it can be difficult to quit on you’re own but by using the Stop Smoking Service you are four times more likely to not only quit but not start up again.”
