Dragon Boat Race for hospice

THE 4th annual Dragon Boat Race to raise money for Warrington’s St Rocco’s Hospice is to take place on Sunday, August 5.
Twenty teams will paddle against each other in a bid to win the coveted St Rocco’s Dragon Boat trophy.
Every penny raised by those taking part will go straight to patient care at the hospice.
Dragon Boat Racing has become one of the UK’s favourite mass participation water sports.
The event is based on traditional Chinese craft propelled by a crew using paddles. The boats are up to 40 feet long and hold a crew of 16, plus a drummer who beats time.
The money raised from the race will go towards caring for St Rocco’s patients and families, all of who are living with life limiting illnesses such as cancer. All care is completely free of charge, but St Rocco’s need to raise £2.6 million each year just to keep running.
This year’s race is being sponsored by Assura Group Ltd, who have nominated St Rocco’s as their charity of the year.
Anyone wanting to register a team for the race should either visit www.stroccos.org.uk or contact the St Rocco’s Appeals Team on 01925 575780.
