A WARRINGTON dad is embarking on a charity bike ride with his three sons in memory of his teenage daughter who tragically died suddenly from epilepsy.
Kevin Farrell will be joined by his three sons Tan, Alex and Seb when he cycles from Copenhagen in Denmark to Warrington in July covering a distance of more than 1,000 miles.
Entitled “Bringing Home the Bacon – Charity Cycle Ride for Epilepsy,” they will be raising funds for Epilepsy Action in memory of 15 year-old Felicity (pictured left) who died from sudden unexpected epilepsy in 2008.They are riding from Tan’s home in Copenhagen to Warrington.
Kevin, who is a volunteer broadcaster with Radio warrington in his spare time, said: “We are determined to do something for people affected by epilepsy and to try and prevent our family story happening again to others.
“The plan is to raise as much money and awareness for Epilepsy Action as we can by cycling from Copenhagen to Warrington in just 14 days. The European bike ride will take in five different countries, the London 2012 Olympics and over 1500 kilometres of hard terrain.”
Kevin is looking for support from sponsors for bikes, support vehicles and promotion.
“We plan to raise a lot of money for people affected by Epilepsy, if you can help, even in a small way, please get in touch,” added Kevin.
Between 600 and 1000 familes a year in the UK are affected by sudden death in epilepsy (www.sudep.org).
Setting off on July 27 they are aiming to be in Warrington by 8th August which is the 4th anniversary of Felicity’s death.
