Strategy with carers at its heart

A NEW strategy being developed in Warrington will have the needs of carers at its heart.
Council chiefs have launched a consultation to find out what would help make a difference to carers in the town.
At any one time, one in ten people in Britain is a carer. To help support their needs, a new strategy that links to the Government’s national carers’ strategy is being developed by the borough council and Warrington Health Consortium.
The month-long consultation will give carers and the people they care for a chance to put forward their ideas and views.
Cllr Pat Wright (pictured), the borough council’s executive member for health, wellbeing and adult services, said: “It’s really important that strategies include input from the people they are designed to help and support.
“We want to know what would make a difference to carers in Warrington so we can do everything we can to help them carry out the tremendous work they do.”
The draft strategy and consultation questions can be found at www.warrington.gov.uk/ascconsultation or people can call 01925 444167 to have a copy sent out to them. Other members of the public are also invited to give their views.
The final strategy will be overseen by the local Carers Partnership Board which includes carer representatives.
