WARRINGTON Town continued their steady climb up the league table as they extended their unbeaten run to nine games with a 2-0 win at Ossett Albion.
Gavin Salmon came into the starting line up in place of the injured and influential Lee Madin while new signing from Southport, Brett Adamson was named on the bench.
Town got off to a good start with much of the action coming down the wings with Liam Shipton and Allan Collins supplying some good crosses for both Salmon and Rob Hardwick.
Warrington took the lead through a Collins’ header after Rob Hardwick’s initial shot was blocked by an Ossett defender.
The visitors went searching for a second with Salmon, Shipton and Hardwick all going close but found the home keeper Jody Barford in good form.
A scrappy start to the second half saw the bulk of possession in central midfield with Dale Wright and Kyle Hamid gaining control for Warrington.
After 63 minutes Town were awarded a penalty after Collins was brought down in the box. Captain Tom Hardwick stepped up to score his second goal in two games to reveal a t-shirt with “Do It For Mado” written on it, in tribute for the injured striker.
Chris Thompson and Nick Jackson were introduced by manager Joey Dunn to give the side a bit of energy as the pair looked to get a third but again, were kept at bay by Barford int he Ossett goal.
With 6 minutes remaining, Gavin Salmon was replaced by Brett Adamson after picking up and elbow in the face and was seen leaving the field with blood on his playing kit.
Town will look to continue their push for the play offs when they entertain Woodley Sports at Cantilever Park next Saturday, kick off 3pm.
