New homes plan

PLANS for six detached houses on the site of an existing, derelict house at Warrington are to be put to the borough council’s planning committee.
The scheme at the junction of Delenty Drive and Powell Avenue, Birchwood triggered objections from nearby residents, although some of these were withdrawn when the scheme was amended.
One resident welcomed the scheme because it would result in the removal of the derelict house which had been “unwanted and uncared for” for many years.
Planners are recommending the scheme be approved.
There will be three other buildings on the site – detached garages – and a footpath will be provided along the Powell Avenue frontage..
Five years ago, an application to build a 50-bed care home on the site was refused.
