CHANGES have been made to the location of some polling stations in Warrington following feedback from a review last year.
In Appleton the previous station at Cobbs Infant School is replaced by The Cygnets Sure Start Children’s Centre.
Due to the increasing population at Chapelford a new polling district has been established there. It is separated by Burtonwood Road, and each side will have a mobile unit located as a polling station.
In Fairfield and Howley the previous station at St Oswald’s Parish Club/St John’s Mission will be replaced by Oakwood Avenue Primary School.
The Community House, 34 Watkin Street, will also be replaced by the Irish Club, Orford Lane.
Changes in Grappenhall and Thelwall see the Ex-Serviceman’s Club replaced by Grappenhall Library. And in Great Sankey South, Great Sankey Primary School is replaced by Great Sankey Library.
In Orford voters previously using the library will move to Orford Community Hub, and those who previously used the hub will move to Tetley Walker Sports and Social Club.
A new polling station at Penketh South Primary School will replace the mobile unit at Cuerdley Green, for Penketh and Cuerdley ward.
In Poplars and Hulme/Poulton North, Cinnamon Brow Community Centre will be replaced by Cinnamon Brow CE Primary School.
Padgate Youth and Community Centre will also be replaced by Horizons School (formerly known as Longbarn Primary School).
Following comments from electors and ward councillors a new polling district has been created in Westbrook
The area has been split in half and the Callands side will vote at Callands Community Centre with Kingswood voting at Kingswood Community Centre in future elections. Westbrook Way is the boundary between the two.
During the review there have also been some changes to boundary lines with some streets changing polling districts and therefore polling stations. Letters have been sent to those affected.

Well a little common sense at last !!!! though a local election too late yet again som e schools are having to close and disrupt these chidlrens education and parents yet again as why do any school have to close for polling day .where there are many other alternatives , hubs, community centres all over , even Wynsors shoes in Penketh had a booth I recall .Why cant one be at 3 Asdas we have Sainsburys Tesco even Coops they are open earl y doors till 10 pm , and how many units are free in the town centre …..Peaqcocks possibly now and wbc pay a pittance they pay for using the centres so no doubt the centres are losing valuable income to cater for a hardly a 100% turnout anywhere in the area .Only winners the polling clerks or even same wbc employee doing this on 14 hr shift and even may of delivered polling cards too and got paid do that and on a good rate then some do the actual count . , this is advertised internal to them why not externally ??? . not bad little earner for some …….might I say ..
