Arson attack on post office

POLICE in Warrington are appealing for information following an arson attack at a post office in Locking Stumps while the premises were open for business.
The incident happened yesterday (Thursday) at the post office in Glover Road at around 1.20pm when a man approached the shop, opened the door and threw an unknown object, which was alight, inside. He has then fled the scene on foot.
The offender is described as a white man, around 5? 5″-6? tall, of slim to medium build and was wearing dark clothing.
Police are currently carrying out a number of lines of enquiry in a bid to trace the offender.
DC Stephen Page said: “Fortunately, no-one was injured as a result of the incident but staff were left shaken by the ordeal.
“They managed to extinguished the small fire, which did not cause serious damage to the premises.
“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have seen the offender, either before the incident took place, or following the attack, to get in touch immediately.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who knows the identity of the offender.”
Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 419 of 19 January.
