Councils join up over vascular services

THREE councils have joined forces to review a proposal to remove vascular services from Warrington Hospital.
Residents concerned about the controversial plan are being invited to get involved by attending one of a series of meetings organised by a joint Health Overview and Scrutiny committee set up by Warrington, Halton and St Helens councils..
The meetings will take place over the next 12 weeks to review the proposals and the first will be next Monday (January 23) from 2pm at Warrington Town Hall.
Anyone interested in getting involved should contact Julia Sykes, overview and scrutiny officer by ringing 01925 442113 or e-mailing [email protected] putting “Joint Health OSC – Cardio Vascular Services” in the heading.
Last year a local campaign started to block plans by NHS Cheshire and Merseyside to end vascular services at Warrington Hospital.
Warrington North MP Helen Jones and Warrington South Tory MP David Mowat, have both expressed concern about the proposals.
Campaigners are concerned that plans to take vascular services away from Warrington would damage services at the hospital.
