Arson attack on house

POLICE are hunting arsonists who made a determined attempt to set a house on fire at Warrington.
The attack was on a detached house in Springfield Avenue, Padgate in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Between 2am and 3.40am, someone pushed a number of bins directly up against a side door and set them alight.
Firefighters were called to the scene and extinguished the blaze – but the
UPVC door was totally burned out.
DC Tom Hall said: “Fortunately no-one was injured as a result of the incident but the consequences could have potentially been far worse as there was a real chance the fire could have spread.
“Whoever is responsible needs to realise the impact of their actions as they could have put lives at risk. We will do all we can to trace those responsible and ensure that they are prosecuted accordingly.”
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, knows who is responsible, or has any information, which might assist with their enquiries, to get in touch.
Officers are also keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and saw anyone acting suspiciously.
Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
