Plucky councillor strings along at party

A COUNCILLOR put his guitar playing skills to good use when he dropped in at Warrington’s new Horizons school to share Christman lunch with the pupils.
Cllr Colin Froggatt – who in the past has been known to serenade fellow councillors at meetings – joined in on one of the music lessons at the Longbarn school.
He toured the school and joined in some of the festive fun.
Cllr Froggatt, the borough council’s executive member for children and young people’s services, said: “It’s fantastic to see the new facilities here at Horizons and how well the young people are settling into their new school. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting them all and look forward to visiting again soon.
“Horizons is forging important links with the neighbourhood by operating as an extended community facility. There are already plans for community learning sessions, an allotment underway and further community involvement is in the pipeline for the new year.”
The school only opened last month, following the transformation of a former primary school site.
It will help children back into mainstream schools – this year the school achieved some of its best exam results to date. Pupils will benefit from being on one site which means they will have more room, better facilities and the opportunity for technology and music based learning and vocational training.
