Car thief set himself ablaze

A SUSPECTED car thief ran from the scene with his clothing ablaze after setting fire to a car at Warrington.
The incident was last night in Archer Avenue, Latchford – close to Warrington Town Football Club’s ground.
Fire crews tacked the blaze but the car was badly damaged.
It is believed the car had been stolen and dumped in Archer Avenue. A man was seen in the car, apparently dousing the interior with petrol.
A fire started and the man fled the scene with his clothing ablaze.
Police searched the area but could not find the man.
They are still hunting for the man and are asking for information about anyone known to have suffered burns last night.
In a separate incident, fire crews from Warrington and Birchwood dealt with a blaze involving scrap tyres at Kingsland Grange, Woolston last night. Minor damage was caused to an industrial unit.

  1. When reading that the man who stole the car and set it on fire also set himself on fire…… I couldn’t help but laugh. Serves him right, pity the doors weren’t locked is all I can say!
