Utilities giant wants time to build

UNITED Utilities are seeking more time to carry out a development of 178 homes at Warrington
The utilities giant says they have been unable to find a prospective developer because of the economic downturn.
It was in 2007 that outline permission for the houses – including 51 for social rent – was granted at Dawson House, Liverpool Road, Great Sankey.
Conditions included one that detailed consent be obtained within three years and the company is now seeking an extension of this.
Planning officers are recommending that the borough council’s development management committee approve the application as the reasons why the earlier consent was not implemented are “valid and genuine.”
They say there has been no material change in circumstances since the original consent was granted.
