Police re-launch anti-drink campaign

POLICE at Warrington are re-launching their successful “The Good Bad and Ugly” anti-alcohol campaign to drive home the message about drinking too much in the run-up to Christmas.
Over the festive period, police will be explaining to members of the public the impact alcohol has on their judgement and safety.
Alcohol can leave people in a vulnerable state as they are more likely to be attacked or become involved in a fight.
The cold weather can also put people in danger – eg girls wearing skimpy dresses after having a drink may not be aware of the effects of the drop in temperature at night and might be at risk of getting hypothermia.
Domestic abuse can also be the result of too much drinking.
Assistant Chief Constable Janette McCormick (pictured) said “Christmas is a time for celebration. We are not telling people they shouldn’t have a drink, simply that it can influence people’s behaviour when drinking to excess.
“People having too much to drink makes them become a danger to themselves and others.”
She added: “Think twice before having too much to drink, waking up in a police cell or a hospital bed is not a good night out.”

  1. Drunken or drugged up Drivers are nothing but scum and should face a lifetime driving ban; not just 12 months…. I would urge everyone to shop people they know are driving while under the influence…. you may save someones life if you do
