TWO outstanding young people were honoured at a prestigious ceremony at Lymm Rugby Club.
The pair – Ethan Waite and Neal Llewellyn – won the Lymm and District Lions Club Young Ambassador Awards.
They gained the award and had the chance to meet special guest Thomas Kelly, who has recently been called to the England Judo Squad, after gaining success in national and international competitions.
Ethan, a former pupil of Ravenbank Primary School, has recently started at Lymm High School.
His citation from Ravenbank said: “He continually proved himself to be a fantastic ambassador for our school community and made an outstanding contribution to the life of the school by selflessly working to help others in a number of areas.”
He assisted with ICT at school including fixing problems and updating web pages. Staff say his understanding of technical issues was “beyond his years.”
He was also been secretary to the School Council and set up a Chess Club which he ran on his own during lunch breaks to encourage younger children to learn the game and develop their skills.
The school says Ethan always “had a smile on his face” and was always willing to help others. He also managed to achieve outstanding exam results.
Lymm RFC put forward the citation for Neal, 11. The club says he has played rugby at Lymm since being seven.
The club said: “He is undoubtedly a talented rugby player, but there is much more to Neal…a strong contender with a heart of gold.
“Neal started playing Rugby in Lymm in the second team (coached by Mike Daly) at U8’S in the 2006/7 season. It was obvious he was a good all round sportsman and took to the game immediately.”
He soon progressed to the first team (coached by Nick Hughes) and over the years has shown ability to play any position with equal commitment/skill.
He has achieved great success and has helped train younger players.
The club say he has turned into a “great young person” and since the end of the end of the 2010/11 season he has turned up every Saturday and Sunday to help Mike train the 2011/12 U9’s.
