Swing bridge off tonight

WARRINGTON’S Latchford Swing Bridge is to close tonight (Saturday) while emergency repairs to be carried out by the Manchester Ship Canal Company.
The bridge will be closed from 7pm and will reopen at 10am tomorrow (Sunday).
A spokesman for the canal company said one of the cylinders required to swing the bridge is in need of urgent repairs and any delay in carrying out the work could result in the bridge becoming inoperable in the near future.
Traffic will be diverted along Knutsford Road, Wilderspool Causeway, London Road, Grappenhall Road, Ackers Road and Hunts Lane and will be signposted.
Ongoing works on the Latchford High level bridge has been suspended in an attempt to minimise disruption. But they will resume on Monday to allow the scheme to be completed in two weeks time.
