GRAPHIC design students at Warrington’s Priestley College are being set the challenge of developing assets for use in an “app” that will play on a popular range of Apple products – thanks to an award-winning creative agency.
Working with Peter Caddock from Studio Liddell, the students will research, develop and design assets connected with the theme of popular nursery rhymes and produce illustrations to appeal visually to children aged two to five years.
As well as giving the students key industry experience, the project is one of the core modules that makes up the BTEC Extended Diploma in Graphic Design qualification at Priestley College.
Paul McConnell, assistant curriculum manager for Art and Design, said: “It is always pleasing for our students to work with industry experts and the opportunity for the group to work with Studio Liddell on an exciting ‘app’ project is really inspiring as the technology is the kind that they all use themselves on a daily basis.”
Priestley is also launching a brand new BTEC qualification in Computer Games Design aimed at aspiring digital designers in September 2012. More information on the new course can be found at www.priestley.ac.uk/courses/computergamesdesign.htm.
