A chance to name new health centre

A BRAND new £7 million health centre will open in Warrington next year – and health chiefs want the public to have a say in naming it.
Work is already under way on construction of the centre which will replace the existing Garven Place centre in Sankey Street and will bring a number of key health services together under one roof.
The development makes use of the site of the now demolished Warrington Baths.
NHS Warrington is asking local people to put forward their suggestions for a name for the building, which is due to be completed next November.
The name could have local historical, health or geographical significance, or it could even be a word that sums up what the centre will do.
The building will accommodate a pharmacy and two GP practices serving 9,000 registered patients.
NHS Warrington chairman John Gartside (pictured right) said: “With less than a year to go till the opening, I am delighted that our town centre will soon have a state-of-the-art building, housing vital health services all under one roof.
“We want to make sure that people in Warrington have an opportunity to get involved by having their say on the future of what is going to be a real asset for the local community”.
The completed site will host a number of additional health services for the wider community, including breast screening, child health and dental services. More car parking spaces will be made available for patients.
It is part of wider plans to improve health services in the town.
