Professor receives his OBE

A LYMM man has been presented with an OBE from Prince Charles at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Professor Peter Brandon (pictured), a former Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of Salford, was awarded the honour in recognition of his services to the built environment.
He is currently Professor Emeritus in the School of the Built Environment and was previously director of the University ThinkLab. He has played a major role in the development of research in the UK and internationally. His award was supported by many institutions abroad and in the UK.
Much of Professor Brandon’s research is recognised as world-leading and he has written widely on a number of topics including building economics, construction management, construction information technology and sustainable development,
more than 30 books to his credit as author, co-author or editor. Several of his research outputs have been translated into commercial products.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has chaired many national and international committees.
Professor Brandon said that he owed much to the support he was given during his 25 years at Salford and particularly to his colleagues and students over this period.
He said: “They provoked, stimulated and motivated me. I also need to thank the many friends in government, industry and commerce who encouraged me and assisted the school to become the very best of its kind in the UK and many would say worldwide.”
