Children's choir to perform

AFTER months of rehearsing, children from Warrington and Manchester will perform together in an Advent service at St Mary’s Priory Church, Warrington on Sunday.
St Mary’s Director of Music, Michael Wynne, launched the Choral Outreach programme earlier this year and has been working with schools to introduce children to the concept of choral singing.
He said: “Choral singing is not always top of the list when children choose how to spend their time, but I’m delighted with the level of response and enthusiasm. Around 80 children will be performing on Sunday and I’m confident their dedication and hard work will pay off.”
The Choral Outreach Programme allows young people to express themselves through singing and Michael is proud of the progress so far.
“We have made a good start with initial financial support from The Co-operative Society. I hope Sunday’s service will inspire more young people to explore the musical opportunities open to them. I encourage everyone to come along and see for themselves how rewarding choral singing can be.”
The service will also launch St Mary’s first ever Advent Labyrinth. This is an ancient means of meditation, allowing a unique reflective view of the path of life. Experts from Liverpool John Moores University have worked with St Mary’s in designing the labyrinth, which will remain in place throughout the season of Advent.
The service will start at 3pm and admission is free. Further information is available from Michael Wynne (07894 444953) or Michael Bold (07951 277802).
