THIRTEEN youngsters were given an interactive tour of Warrington Police Station as part of “Take Over Day” – the annual event which gives young people a chance to experience someone’s job.
Children and young people aged 13-19 were invited to experience a day in the life of a senior police officer.
To take part, they had to write a 40-word letter explaining why they would like to be an assistant chief constable or senior police officer.
The youngsters were short listed and then interviewed by the Youth Parliament Panel.
Lucky winner was 19-year-old Rachael Gray, who took over the role of an assistant chief constable at police headquarters in Macclesfield.
But at Warrington, 13 youngsters were given a tour of the police station, which included a visit to the Police Museum.
Assistant Chief Constable Janette McCormick said: “Take over Day is great opportunity for young people to experience different aspects of policing. It offers people who are interested in becoming a police officer the chance to gain further insight into what it involves.
“Take over Day also offers the constabulary the opportunity to get young peopl’s views on policing.”
