YOUNG people in Warrington are being urged to take up the offer of becoming trustees on charity boards.
Warrington Conservative Future (WCF) is making the call during National Trustees Week which highlights opportunities for people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference.
Jonathan Levy, WCF chairman, said young people are under-represented on charity boards. The average age of trustees is 57, and only 0.5 per cent is aged 18 to 24, compared with 12 per cent of the population.
He said: “Young people can gain so much from becoming a trustee. They can learn and develop a range of new skills that may open up new opportunities for them, as well as meeting like-minded people who share their passion.
“There are many great contributions to be made by young people becoming trustees such as bringing new ideas, a new way of doing things and harnessing technology.”
He said the Warrington Wolves Foundation is one of the local charities currently recruiting young trustees. Further opportunities are available at http://www.ncvo-vol.org.uk/trusteebank
