Indoor bowling league opens

WARRINGTON’S new indoor Long Mat Bowling League has launched – and is already attracting enthusiastic support.
The league – the first long mat club in town – runs sessions on Monday afternoons and Friday evenings at the Birchwood Indoor Tennis and Leisure Complex.
Bowling nets are placed over the tennis courts to enable the league to operate.
Cllr Kate Hannon, the borough council’s executive member for culture, leisure and sport, said: “I know that bowlers are passionate about their sport and probably find the winter months frustrating when they can’t play. This new partnership will mean that they can now bowl all year round, keep active and also enjoy the social side at the same time.
“Leisure Warrington are making best use of the facilities in Birchwood in delivering another sporting opportunity to a totally different group of users.”
If demand is sufficient, more bowling sessions may be operated.
Teams and individuals interested in joining the league should contact John Kirkham on 01925 764772 or [email protected] for more information.
