Wolves stars make Marion's dream come true

WARRINGTON Wolves’ stars Michael Monaghan and Matt King recently gave something back to loyal supporter Marion Hamblett by visiting her in hospital.
Marion watched her first game back in 1950 and is still a very keen and knowledgeable supporter. She has an impressive collection of club memorabilia and the support of the Wolves runs right through her family.
Sadly, Marion has recently been diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer and her family and friends contacted the club to arrange this special treat for her.
The club prides itself on being part of the local community and values the continued, loyal support of our fans far and wide. All at the Wolves were only too happy to arrange this visit and wish Marion and her family all the best.
Karl Fitzpatrick, Wolves’ player welfare officer, said: “As well as impressive performances on the pitch, the players have been just as impressive off the pitch. The amount of emails and letters I have received this year to thank the club and the players for visiting a sick child, an elderly person or a community project has been quite remarkable. Visiting Marion is another fine example of how the players like to integrate with the supporters, speaking to Mick and Matt I think they enjoyed the afternoon just as much as Marion. On behalf of the players and staff we wish Marion and her family all the best for the future.”
Marion’s family and friends added: “An overwhelming thank you must go to everyone involved in arranging a hospital visit from Matt King and Michael Monaghan with the biggest thank you going to the players for their time. When her knights in shining armour walked round the corner Marion smiled in surprise and couldn’t speak for a few moments but within minutes she was in full swing discussing everything and anything that was Warrington related. Matt and Michael really gave Marion something that no doctor or medication could give her – and that’s a dream come true.
“We would like to congratulate the club on their relationship with their fans, and the fact there is no segregation between the club and supporters. We regard ourselves as being so fortunate that our beloved club is so accessible for all.
“As dedicated Warrington supporters, we will never forget the players and club’s kindness for going out of their way to help us when we needed you most.”
