Step back in time at Burtonwood

VISITORS to the Burtonwood Heritage Centre in Warrington can step back in time to the days of war time Britain this weekend.
The Old Hall museum, on the site of Gulliver’s World theme park, is offering guests a complete 1940s experience this Saturday and Sunday to celebrate its annual Military Weekend.
Visitors will experience military re-enactments, films, displays, memorabilia and props at the centre, which was built in 1987 on part of the RAF Burtonwood air base.
A range of allied and axis vehicles will also be on display throughout the weekend.
Entry to the centre is free but donations are welcome.
A spokesman for Burtonwood said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for families to delve into the past – it’s an extremely fitting tribute to the hundreds of men and women who served their country at the air base here from 1940 to 1993.”
Burtonwood Heritage Centre was built on the site of a RAF Burtonwood, formerly the largest airfield in Europe. The Royal Air Force station was used by the USA during World War II and the Cold War.
