A YOUNG disabled girl from Warrington is enjoying the freedom of sailing after gaining a Bronze qualification.
Green Lane School pupil Ainsley Jackson gained the Sailability Award using a boat bought with a grant from Warrington Inclusion Matters Fund.
From the first time she set sail Ainsley was a fan of life on the water. Her family were thrilled when the fund contributed towards the cost of a dingy, meaning she could sail regularly.
She now sails with Schools and Youth Sailing and Canoeing Association at Budworth near Northwich.
Kim Devereux, (pictured above with Ainsley), is a member of the Fiddlers Ferry Sailing Club and has worked with her since Easter to achieve her RYA award.
The fund, was administered by Warrington Borough Council and offered money for equipment or adaptations to support childcare and leisure activities for disabled children and young people up to the age of 24 years old.
Any young, disabled person who might like to try sailing can contact Craig Hinkins, of the Schools and Youth Sailing and Canoeing Association on 01925 727846 or 07703176447 for more information.
