POPULAR neighbourhood police inspector Gary McIntyre leaves Stockton Heath today (Monday) – to take up a key role in London.
Insp McIntyre, (pictured) who has been at the helm at Stockton Heath Police Station for two years, will take up a temporary promotion to Detective Chief Inspector with the National Policing Improvement Agency in London. He is due to remain there until December next year.
He said: “I started at Warrington South NPU over two years ago having spent many years as a detective in CID and in specialist roles. The role of neighbourhood policing inspector came up and I really believed that I could utilise my skills and experience and make a difference in the community.
“I can honestly say that the past two years have been one of the most demanding and enjoyable experiences of my career so far. This is a very exciting opportunity and a new challenge. I leave Warrington South NPU with great sadness however with a real sense of achievement.”
Inspector McIntyre and his team have helped to reduce crime and disorder in the Warrington South area in the space of two years to its lowest level since records began.
In acknowledgement of his efforts Insp McIntyre was recently granted the “Freedom of the Parish” by Stockton Heath Parish Council.
Insp Sarah Heath takes over the reins at Stockton Heath from today, moving from the Knutsford Neighbourhood Policing Unit where she has served as a sergeant for some time.
