A NEW initiative is to be launched at Warrington to help get people back into work.
The new Can Do Club at Burtonwood will build on the success of other Can Do clubs around the borough which launched earlier this year.
It will launch on Thursday September 8 between 2.30-3.30pm
The Can Do club, run by the Neighbourhoods team at Warrington Borough Council, offers an opportunity to anyone who is unemployed to help prepare themselves for the job market. It will work with people to try to support them getting back into work, with a particular focus on their health and wellbeing.
The club is open to anyone who is unemployed and aims to make getting back to work a real possibility.
Cllr Kate Hannon, (pictured) the borough council’s executive member for leisure, community and culture, said: “At the council helping those who are unemployed get back into work is one of our top priorities. The Can Do club is a fantastic initiative and this new club in Burtonwood will build on the continuing success of the other clubs in the town.
“The scheme aims to give people the chance to take a positive step towards getting back into employment. I would encourage anyone in Warrington who is unemployed to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity by dropping in to a session in their local area – everyone is welcome.”
The Can Do club project is being delivered in partnership with Warrington Disability Partnership and Warrington Borough Council library service.
Clubs are at Burtonwood Library (Thursdays, 2.30-3.30pm), Orford Library (Mondays, 11am-12pm), Longford Neighbourhood Café (Tuesdays. 10am-12pm), Bewsey Park Community Centre (Wednesdays, 11am-12pm), Fearnhead Community Centre (Wednesdays 10am-12pm), Fairfield and Howley Community Hub (Thursdays, 1pm-3pm) and Whitecross Community Centre (Tuesdays, 2pm-4pm).
