Teenagers launch rock band

FOUR Lymm teenagers – inspired by bands like The Killers – have formed a rock group.
The boys Alex Royle, 13, (drums), and 14-year-olds Rory Boyle (singer/guitar), Sam Ward (guitarist) and Brody Cook (bass guitar) are all pupils of Lymm High School.
Their band “Tainted Memories” played a gig at an under 18s’ concert at Thelwall Parish Hall , together with two other bands.
Alex’s dad, Keith Royle said the boys are inspired by bands like Bon Jovi and The Killers, whose hit “Mr Brightside” is one of their favourites.
He said: “Alex is quite deep and he thinks a lot about life. He enjoys writing lyrics and poetry. He and the others are quite grown up, which is why they chose a mature name for the band.”
The band formed in March and have performed so far at several events including at the Parr Hall in April, Orford Park Festival in June and at the recent Warrington Music Festival – where they were believed to be the youngest band performing.
Keith said: “At present all the dads act as ‘roadies’ transporting the boys around and carrying the equipment.”
One of the boys has a music room at home, where the band practices.
He said the boys are serious about their music career and have a five year plan of how they want their career to progress.
“If they make it – then I’ll retire,” he joked.
The band has its own website www.taintedmemories.co.uk which includes links to YouTube video clips of live performances.
