Injuries take their toll on Wizards

WARRINGTON Wizards were well beaten 64-10 at high flying Dewsbury Celtic in The Co-operative Rugby League Conference National.
The Wizards, once again much changed due to an ever increasing injury list, gave their all for the full eighty minutes but the rampant Dewsbury side were in ruthless form and deservedly recorded a very impressive victory.
Celtic opened the scoring in the first minute when prop forward Alex Walmsley made a 40 metre break down the right and this was carried on by winger Jason Muranka who managed to pass back inside to A. Walmsley who went over at the side of the posts for a try goaled by centre Tom Harrington and five minutes later two penalties in quick succession for Dewsbury put the close to the Wizards line and A. Walmsley powered over at the side of the posts; Harrington converting.
Shortly afterwards Celtic centre Danny Crabtree linked into the line well to race over for a try goaled by Harrington but then the Wizards woke up and started to get themselves back into the game and they were rewarded on twenty three minutes when second row Paul Reynolds broke from a scrum on his own thirty metre line and brilliantly found full back Chris Campbell who raced sixty metres outpacing the chasing pack to score under the posts. Centre Liam Walsh added the conversion.
Just before the half hour mark a chip over on the last tackle by Celtic scrum half Danny Thomas bounced kindly into the arms of second row Liam Walmsley who went over under the posts. Harrington’s conversion gave the home side a 24-6 interval advantage.
Three minutes into the second half a chip ahead by Wizards stand off Alan Reddecliff on the last tackle saw second row Troy Brophy collect and he found Walsh who put winger Craig Middlemore over in the left corner but then five minutes later Celtic full back Pat Foulstone got the ball in his own thirty metre line area and he skipped round three defenders before brushing off two more as he raced seventy metres to score under the posts and give Harrington the simplest of conversions.
Dewsbury stretched their lead when stand off Josh West broke clear and put Thomas over under the posts and then Foulstone scored another long range try when he collected a Wizards kick down field and went sixty metres to score under the posts. Harrington converted both tries.
The impressive A. Walmsley used his strength to go over for a deserved hat trick and then Celtic brought up the half century when substitute Joe Waters brushed off two defenders to score o the right. Harrington converted the latter.
Dewsbury finished the game with a flourish when Harrington put Thomas over for his second try and then right on time Harrington crossed himself under the posts. He converted both to complete a 64-10 victory for his side.
Best for the Wizards were Troy Brophy, Paul Reynolds, Ryan Millington and Hayden James.
