A NEW £40,000 fund to help local voluntary and community groups based in selected areas of Warrington has been launched.
Those in the Birchwood, Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft areas are set to benefit from the Biffa Landfill Community Fund.
It was set up by Biffa, the company which operates the landfill site at Silver Lane, Risley, in partnership with the Birchwood Endowment Fund.
The fund will be administered by Warrington Grassroots, Cllr John Joyce’s chosen charity during his Mayoral year, for which £20,000 was raised. Biffa has contributed £20,000 to the fund.
Cllr Joyce said: “This fund has been set up especially for the benefit of the small voluntary and community groups that make such a difference to the north of our town.
“They can apply for grants between £250 and £5,000 to help continue or strengthen the good work that they do.”
