WARRINGTON Market traders invited various community mascots along to help encourage people to sign up to for a charity fancy dress mile!
The fundraiser will take place on Wednesday August 3 from 12 til 2pm to raise funds for Warrington Disability Partnership.
A host of different characters including Gully Mouse from Gullivers World, Wolfie from warrington Wolves, Olly Owl from WDP, a medieval knight and a gorilla were on hand to encourage people to get involved. Even the lovely Samantha Cross who is Miss Cheshire 2011 popped down to show her support!
The sponsored fancy dress mile promises to be the biggest and best fancy dress event of the year.
To sign up you can collect a sponsorship form from either the market customer information desk or Warrington Disability Partnership at Beaufort Street. Alternatively you can attend one of the children’s craft workshops taking place on the morning of Wednesday 3 August and create your own costume! You can then join in with the parade by making a small donation.
Councillor Mike Hannon, deputy leader of Warrington Borough Council, said:”The fancy dress mile is a chance to have a great day out with all the family while raising money for a really good cause at the same time. This fundraiser is part of the wider National Playday event on Wednesday 3 August which will see a range of exciting activities taking place around the town centre. Make sure you don’t miss out on a really fun day!’
National Playday is the national day for play, traditionally celebrated on the first Wednesday in August. This year, Warrington is pulling out all the stops with a huge range of entertainment and activities on offer for all the family.
This includes a fantastic full size Spitfire, a helter skelter, puppet show, water zorbs, fairground rides, a medieval encampment, arts and crafts workshops and stalls, and of course the fancy dress mile and much more!
