MAJOR roadworks to resurface A49 London Road, Stretton, near Warrington will start on Monday, July 18 and are expected to take about six weeks to complete.
The roadworks will take place between the traffic lights at the Cat and Lion pub and Longwood Road, including the roundabout.
Work will be carried out between 9.30am and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.
London Road will be closed to through traffic during working hours so that the resurfacing work can be done safely, although every effort will be made to minimise disruption of traffic.
There will be a diversion from the traffic lights at the Cat and Lion via B5356 Stretton Road, Blackcap Road, Dipping Brook Avenue and Longwood Road to the roundabout at Owens Corner (Hillside Road). Hatton Lane will remain open at this time.
Access to properties along the closed section of London Road will be available, under the control of the contractor. Access for pedestrians will always be available.
The roundabout at Owens Corner (Hillside Road) will be resurfaced while London Road is closed between the roundabout and Stretton. This work will be done using
temporary traffic lights to control traffic.
Resurfacing work will also take place at the Cat and Lion traffic lights junction. B5356 Stretton Road and Hatton Lane will be closed for short periods at their junctions with London Road for resurfacing. London Road will be open when this part of the work is being done.
Diversion routes will be clearly signposted.
All roads will be open outside working hours. Bus services will be diverted when London Road is closed.
A spokesperson for Warrington Borough Council said: “We apologise for any inconvenience while we carry out essential maintenance of the roads in your area.”
