WARRINGTON’S “Golden girl” Samantha Cross is seeking sponsors to help in her bid to be crowned Miss England.
The novice model won through to the finals of the prestigious event following a chance outing in her local shopping centre.
Samantha, aged 18, from Penketh, who has been studying Sport & Media at Priestley College, was talent spotted when she was shopping in Golden Square one lunch time.
Just a few weeks later she was taking centre stage at Warrington’s Parr Hall to win the Finals of Miss Cheshire, held in aid of the Variety Club Children’s Charity, with the prize of going through to the finals of miss England.
“I can ‘t believe how quickly it has all happened,” said Samantha, who has no previous modelling experience.
Girls from all over Cheshire competed in the event, sponsored by the Golden Square shopping centre.
There was a four-scene catwalk fashion show, with clothing supplied by stores from the shopping centre.
Her prize included shopping vouchers worth £1,200, a handmade crystal crown, £250 cash and a £500 photography portfolio.
The finals of Miss England will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Birmingham on July 18 and 19 and Samantha is urgently seeking support from local sponsors to help her lift the title.
“A total of 800 girls entered the Miss Cheshire contest so it was great to win and a fantastic experience. All the other finalists have been models for some time and have got sponsors helping them with their outfits e.t.c.
“If any local business can help me I will help promote them,” said Samantha.
