More people using blue bins

A COUNCIL scheme to persuade more people to use their blue bins for recycling is to be rolled out across Warrington following the success of a pilot scheme in one area.
The number of people using blue bins at Dallam increased from 38 per cent to 61 per cent after the borough’s recycling team went door to door to 500 homes in the area.
They gave out advise, information and, where necessary, new bins.
Hodgkinson Avenue made the biggest improvement with a 65 per cent increase in recycling.
Andy Cutts, waste minimisation and recycling manager at the council, said:
“We are really pleased with the positive impact on recycling this has made in the Dallam area. The recycling team got a warm welcome from the residents and we would like to thank everyone we visited in Dallam for their participation and their positive comments about the initiative.
“Following the success of this pilot scheme in Dallam, we plan to roll this out to other areas of Warrington that could recycle more.”
