A WARRINGTON man completed an 86-mile walk and helped raise £2,000 for charity, despite sustaining a leg injury.
Network Warrington driver Andy Rafferty completed the Hadrian’s Wall coast to coast walk. He finished on schedule, with another team member, despite sustaining a leg injury during the trek.
Between them they raised £2,000 for MacMillan Nurses and St Rocco’s Hospice, Warrington.
Andy said: “It was a gruelling walk and took five days to complete the 86 miles from coast to coast, but it was definitely worth it when you see the people that the cash raised has gone to help”.
Managing director David Squire said: “I was really impressed by Andy’s dedication and enthusiasm for this project, he put a lot of effort into training and this has paid off for him.
“Network Warrington was pleased to sponsor him, and he has raised a fantastic amount for charity. He is an inspiration to us all.”
Other company employees have also been raising funds for charity. Driver Billy Boyd and engineer Allan Billington, also donned their sports gear recently to compete in the Manchester 10K. They raised funds for the Diabetic Society and Cancer Research.
