THOUSANDS of people flocked into Lymm for the popular Lymm May Queen Festival which managed to dodge the threat of showers.
Despite a thunder storm and heavy rain earlier in the day the sun broke through for the annual parafe of floats for the annual event as 11-year-old Vicky Hewett was crowned May Queen while Rose Queen was 10-year-old Jessica Baillie.
Vicky, is a pupil attends Cherry Tree Primary School in the village and enjoys riding, swimming, dancing and looking after her pet rabbit Holly.
Meanwhile Jessica is a pupil at Statham Primary School and enjoys swimming and looking after her kitten and three guinea pigs.
Villagers entered into the spirit of the occasion by parading through the village on a wide variety of floats with various theme although pirates and circus characters seemed to be the most popular themes.
The event was started by the village’s very own Town Crier and local parish councillor Peter Powell who was joined by various community organisations including local schools and voluntary groups.

Pictures show members of Lymm Methodist Church as circus characters and May Queen Vicky (right) on her float.
