Making the town safer

FIRE Service personnel and partner organisations are to take to the streets of Warrington in an ambitious campaign to make the town safer for everyone.
Similar operations will be taking place across the county as part of the second annual Cheshire Safety Day next Wednesday, June 1.
The aims is to raise as much awareness as possible of how to stay safe in the kitchen, in the home, on the roads and in the community.
More than a dozen events are being held across the county and firefighters, community safety staff, support staff and managers, fire cadets, volunteers and colleagues from a range of partner organisations are aiming to complete 1,000 home safety assessments. They will be targeting over 65s, who are most at risk of fire in the home.
In Warrington, there will be engagement with motorists on key road safety issues.
Warrington Wolves players will be giving their backing to the campaign.
Fire and police officers will be delivering a targeted delivery of home safety assessments in parts of Croft, Culcheth, Glazebury, Lymm and Whittle Hall where there are high numbers of people aged over 65.
