SPORTS stars from Warrington Wolves and Everton FC are encouraging local children to “Get Active” during the half-term break.
Five days packed with free activities will be held at Golden Square shopping centre, Warrington, from Monday, May 30. Events, for youngsters aged three to 11, will be held in an astro-turfed “playzone” in the Old Market Square between 11am and 4pm each day.
On Monday youngsters can watch live spectacular shows from the Football Freestylers, and then join in and learn some skills and tricks from the players.
Coaches from Everton FC will be holding training sessions for youngsters all day on Tuesday.
On Wednesday there will be a visit from Cheshire Jets basketball coaches, who will be offering tips to budding players.
Warrington Wolves coaches and players will hold rugby skills training on Thursday. Mascot Wolfie will also be on hand with the Challenge Cup.
And on Friday Warrington StagePro Academy dance school will be performing everything from hip-hop to zumba and street dance to keep the crowds happy as well as offering kids the opportunity to join in.
The Get Active event marks the launch of the centre’s new family website www.go-together.co.uk offering local families news, offers and information on kids events at the centre.
Marketing manager Ian Cox said: “This event marks the start of a jam-packed calendar of kids’ events here in the centre. ‘Get Active’ is all about getting children involved in any kinds of sports activity and making it enjoyable for them.”
