Eight weeks of traffic disruption

MAJOR resurfacing works on the A56 at Warrington look set to cause traffic disruption for up to eight weeks.
The work is due to start on Monday, June 20 on the busy road at Lymm.
It will take place on Booth’s Hill Road, Lymm, between Highfield Road and Elm Tree Road, and in Church Road between the junctions with Brookfield Road and Rectory Lane.
Weekday road closures between 9.15am and 3.15pm will be used to allow resurfacing to safely take place. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
A spokesperson for Warrington Borough Council said: “Work will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption for nearby residents, businesses and road users.”
The diversion route for drivers is via the A50 Knutsford Road to Cliff Lane, then the B5159 West Lane and onto High Legh Road.

  1. 8 weeks of disruption? you mean 8 MORE weeks! Booths Hill Road already has traffic lights for the roadworks caused by something to do with the demolition and new construction on the corner of Cherry Lane. That has been there for 2 weeks already.

  2. The traffic lights there weren’t working all weekend, and since you can’t see one end of the works from the other traffic chaos and danger of course ensued. I personally reported the problem to Warrington police on 3 separate occasions over the weekend – but this is Lymm, and we all know that Warrington police don’t know where that is.

  3. In order for the Police to do anything Inky; would have meant them performing traffic duty…… that means they would have to get out of their cars or abandon the speed cameras and do some good old fashioned policing….. never happening!………………….

I once witnessed a young WPC try to sort out a traffic build up due to a broken set of traffic lights in Manchester….she flapped her arms around for about 5 minutes; created even more chaos; jumped back into her panda car and cleared off sharpish!! I just wish I’d had my video camera with me!

  4. Lymm should be glad of this investment and stop moaning! Come to the North East of Warrington and see the state of our roads. We would, I’m sure, be glad to take this investment for our roads if Lymm don’t want it.
