Man arrested after shop raid

A MAN has been arrested following an armed robbery at a shop in Warrington last night.
The 22-year-old is currently being questioned by detectives on suspicion of carrying out the raid on a Co-op store in Knutsford Road.
At about 8.45pm last night, a man entered the store armed with what appeared too be a handgun.
He demanded cash – but when staff refused to hand over money he snatched a bottle of wine and fled the store.
Police were at the scene within minutes and the suspect was sighted near Wash Lane.
He was later arrested and a “BB” imitation firearm and knife were recovered. Nobody was injured as a result of the incident.
