People feared trapped in blaze

PEOPLE were feared trapped when fire broke out at a flat in Warrington.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus raced to the scene in Ashley Close, Grappenhall – but found all occupants of the property safely accounted for.
The blaze involved the cooker in the kitchen and was extinguished using a hose reel jet.
A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the premises.
Smoke detectors were fitted in the flat and did operate.
A motor cycle found ablaze in Cliftonville Road, Woolston, Warrington is believed to have been stolen and deliberately set alight. Fire crews tackled the blaze with extinguishers.
Firefighters also went to Victoria Park, Warrington where a car was on fire – also believed to have been the work of vandals.
An fire alert at Ryfields retirement village, Warrington, turned out to have been caused by a fire in a waste paper bin was which out by the time fire crews reached the scene.
