A WARRINGTON nursery worker has beaten off stiff competition from thousands of others to reach the finals of a national competition to find the UK’s best nursery worker.
Jenny Carlton, a senior nursery nurse at a Great Sankey nursery is one of only three finalists in line for the title of National Day Nursery Association (NDNA) nursery practitioner of the year award.
As part of the award, parents using nurseries around the UK are invited to vote for the nursery carers they feel deserve recognition through this award. Jenny beat off competition from thousands of entries from delighted parents to become a finalist for the award.
She will now attend an interview with a panel of judges to find out more about why she opted for a career in childcare and more about how she helps children to thrive.
The winner is announced at a dinner in Leeds on June 9.
Jenny Carlton said: “It was a huge shock when I got a call to say that I had reached the finals. I love my job and working with all the children and I am pleased that this has come through so clearly to the parents. I am of course thrilled that my everyday work is so appreciated by children and parents and would like to thank all the parents who took the time to nominate me.”
