DETECTIVES are today examining CCTV footage following a robbery at a convenience store in Warrington last night.
Two men wearing balaclavas and armed with baseball bats were involved in the raid at the Spar store on Thelwall Road, Grappenhall just after 9.35pm.
They entered the store, threatened staff and demanded cash.
But staff locked themselves in a secure office area and the offenders were unable to access any money.
They fled the shop on foot, stealing scratchcards and cigarettes. Nobody was hurt, although staff were badly shaken.
The two men were both dressed in dark clothing and masked their faces with balaclavas. Both were less than 5ft 10 inches tall.
A police spokeswoman said: “Detectives are now investigating the circumstances of the incident, obtaining accounts from key witnesses and examining CCTV from the scene.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Warrington CID.
