Banks should pay for toilets

BANKS in Stockton Heath should repay local people for “baling them out” of a financial crisis by sponsoring public toilets for the village.
Cllr Tudor Pole suggested the innovative way that the banks could pay back the community for helping the industry with public funds.
“There are four banks in the village – we should ask them to contribute towards provision of public toilets. We could put up a sign saying they are sponsoring the village toilets. It would be good PR for them,” he said.
“If they don’t want to, they should give us our cash back and we will be able to pay for toilets,” he told Stockton Heath Parish Council.
Members have been trying to get public toilets for the village, since those in The Forge shopping precinct were closed several years ago.
Cllr Peter Walker said the Neighbourhood Area Board was carrying out a study on the need and possible provision of toilets in the village.
Members agreed to wait for the board’s findings before taking any further action.

  1. Fascinating. How do you find out whether there is a need for toilets? Duh.

Of course the public need toilets. They always have and always will.

  2. Given that the banks, and their directors, have put two fingers up to the taxpayer since being bailed out, I somehow doubt if they are going to fund toilets in the village. Maybe the Parish Council should write to Fred Goodwin and his band of former “bankers”…or should that we bank wreckers, and ask if they would personally sponser them with their ill gotten gains. Bankers…toilets, say no more.

  3. Liebour;....Don't worry, the grandkids will pay! on

Weren’t the previous toilets shut because of the actions of some local queers? If new toilets are opened, surely they will just return and carry out their sordid acts in the new ones?

  4. 1. Idiot ! none of us are happy about the bail out, however calling on the banks to pay for every whim to get your name in the paper does not constitute common sense, as the reason they were bailed out was because of the lack of money they had…ergo using the money we gave them for funding other projects will put them back to sq1.

    2. Stockton heath is not a village it is a suburb of Warrington. sick of saying this.

    3. how would sponsoring a toilet be good PR for anyone..what planet?

    4. How did someone who thinks like this get to be a councilor?

  5. I believe that the chap standing in Whittle Hall for Labour is a Senior Business Manager – May be his bank could help they have a branch in Stockton Heath

But then I guess they would want a good return and not the deposits that would be left in a toilet!! Whittle Hall ward do you really want a banker as your councillor???? I think not.
